Daily Announcements

Dress Code Promotes Student Safety - Lynwood Middle School requires uniforms and school ID cards for all students. We encourage parents to monitor their children's clothing. Lynwood Middle School strictly enforces the dress code. The dress code is designed to provide students with a school environment free from gangs, drugs and unnecessary distractions to the learning process. Please remember, items such as hats, baggy/sagging pants and large hoop or hanging earrings are prohibited. Any apparel depicting gang affiliation is not allowed.

PARENT CONFERENCES - Parent-teacher conferences can be held throughout the school year. This is an important time for parents and teachers to discuss class work, homework, grades and test scores. These tips from the California PTA can help parents make the most of conferences:
  1. Get to know your child's teachers.
  2. Talk to your son or daughter and glance over the work he or she brings home.
  3. Ask questions about their school work, relationships with other students and any rules you do not understand.
  4. Develop a good working relationship with the teacher.
  5. Follow up by staying in touch with the teacher.
  6. Ask for more help if you do not get results.

STUDENT OF THE MONTH
Every month at Lynwood Middle School, teachers are given student incentive tickets to reward the students who exceed expectations for behavior and work habits. The goal for the monthly incentives is to motivate and establish a positive learning experience for all students at LMS. Our goal is to inspire students through these incentives on a monthly basis. Every month will bring a new opportunity for ten students to win a prize in order to motivate the entire student body to do their best at Lynwood Middle School.

From the Principal

Dear Parents and Guardians:

We have planned a great start for you and your children for second semester. Our entire Lynwood Middle School family is justly proud of the many accomplishments of our students during the first semester. Our students have demonstrated their commitment to excellence in academics, athletics and activities.
I know that the second semester is a very meaningful time for our 8th grade students as they finalize their middle school years at LMS. Many memorable events-awards, picnic, prom and promotion will mark the closing months of their middle school experiences. My staff and I are looking forward to working with our students and families to plan these events. Students will enjoy fun times as well as the dignified moments of awards and promotion that are a rite of passage to high school.
Over the past few months, administators have been visiting classrooms and completing observations and it is safe to say that we have both outstanding teachers and students. The high quality education that is occurring each day at Lynwood Middle School makes me proud to be the principal.
One of the areas that is a major focus for the staff is content consistency. Teachers use collaborative time to plan common lessons and assessments to improve instruction and ensure student success. Teachers meet to discuss best practices, plan lessons, and analyze data. In today's educational climate of "high stakes testing" it is imperative that each student is prepared. The staff at Lynwood Middle School continues their commitment to preparing all students for life beyond middle school.
